The Bible has much to say about music and
singing.
Psalm 48:6 - 7 (KJV)
Sing praised to God, sing praises: sing praised unto our King,
sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye
praises with understanding.
Psalm 59:16 - 17 (KJV)
But I will sing of Thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of Thy
mercy in the morning: for Thou hast been my defense and my
refuge in the day of my trouble. Unto Thee, O my strength,
will I sing: for God is my defense, and the God of my mercy.
Psalm 96:1 - 3 KJV
O Sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the
earth. Sing unto the LORD, bless His name; shew forth His
salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the
heathen, His wonders among all people.
Psalm 105:1 - 2 (KJV)
O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon His name: make known His
deeds among the people. Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto
Him: talk ye of all His wondrous works.
Psalm 149:1 - 3 (KJV)
Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD
a new song, and His praise in the congregation of saints.
Let Israel rejoice in Him that made him: let the children of
Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise His name in
the dance: let them sing praises unto Him with the timbrel and
harp.
Isaiah 44:23 (KJV)
Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done
it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into
singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the
LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.
As Carolyn & I travel from place to place, especially teaching
Israeli Folk Dance, numerous people ask us, "Who is that singing
that song?" or "How do I get that kind of music?" The
purpose of this page is to recommend some of our favorite
singers - some Jewish - some Gentile - but all
with a great love for Adonai.
Music and singing is such an important part of our worship
relationship to the LORD. Having good music ministers to
your spirit and can help bring you into His presence. We
are so fortunate that God has raised up quality Israeli &
Messianic-themed
singers and musicians - men and women with hearts like the
shepherd and great psalmist, King David . Check out the
various singers listed below.

and listed as the first adopted Jew in Israel. In 1998 Joshua’s
mother had been reunited with the brother she had not known

way of the return of Messiah… together.” In 2009 Joshua recorded
the Live Messianic Worship Album entitled “Bo Yeshua” which has
found it’s way into many homes across the globe with a message
of hope in Yeshua/Jesus, a love for the Jewish people and a

Philip Stanley Klein was born to an Orthodox
Jewish family in Brooklyn, New York. His grandfather was the
president and Rabbi of Beth Emmanuel, an Orthodox Synagogue in
the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. After his formal
musical schooling and a concert at Carnegie Hall, Philip toured
as the keyboard player with a national musical recording group
and wound up in Nashville, Tennessee. He wrote for Frank
Sinatra's music company, performed with gold record celebrities
and finally settled in Atlanta, Georgia in 1977. Shortly
after becoming the father of a beautiful daughter, Stephanie, he
suffered the devastating loss of his wife in an automobile
accident. Philip and his daughter lived with much anguish until
the Lord sent an angel of mercy. Her name was Sheila and
she reached out to this Jewish man and his daughter. A nurse by
profession, she sensed their inner pain and was able to lead
Philip to the only "true" healer, Yeshua (Jesus). As a Gentile
Believer, Sheila showed them how to release their heavy burdens and
to be free in their Jewish Messiah. They soon began
attending Congregation Beth Hallel, a Messianic Jewish Synagogue
in Roswell, Georgia. Later that year, Philip and Stephanie
joined Sheila and her children, David and Colleen in marriage.
The Lord blended two broken families into one whole family in
Him. They enjoy their Jewish roots and heritage and celebrate
all the Biblical feasts and holidays. Philip is now
praising the Lord with the talent that He gave to him. His
personal testimony is moving and powerful. His lyrics and
melodies will stir you deeply, bring tears to your eyes and
healing to your spirit. Listen to one of Philip's CD's and you
will become a fan forever.

Joel Chernoff is a Jewish Believer, American singer-songwriter and a founding
member of the music group LAMB.
Joel was born in August 1950 and was raised in Cincinnati in the
1950s and 1960s as part of one of the very few Messianic
households in the country. He and his younger brother
David are the sons of Martin & Yohanna Chernoff, the founders of
Cincinnatti's Beth Messiah Messianic Congregation. He
considered himself a "Believer", but it wasn't until the Jesus
Movement of the late 1960s that Joel had a life-changing
experience while he was a student at the University of
Cincinnati.
Joel had been raised on hit parade music and at 16 he found that
he had a gift for writing songs. He played keyboards in a
five-man band that became popular at churches, youth rallies and
other community events throughout his teens. In 1972, the
year he graduated from the university, he formed the group LAMB.
LAMB, whose music soon came to be known as simply Messianic
Music, quickly became one of the premier groups of the new
movement that was sweeping the country. Recording on
national labels, as well as their own independent imprint, LAMB
recorded eight studio albums and two live albums over two
decades. With Lamb's break-up in 1992, Joel focused his
energies on several prominent organizations within the Messianic
Jewish Movement. He is currently the General Secretary of
the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America (MJAA) and also
president of the International Messianic Jewish Alliance (IMJA).
In 1996 the MJAA "Joseph Project", a chariatable organization,
was founded. Joel chairs the project which provides food,
clothing and other necessities to poverty-stricken Israelis.
In 2005, LAMB was re-formed with fellow Messianic artist Ted
Pearce, who is not Jewish. Joel's brother, David Chernoff,
is a Messianic Rabbi at Congregation Beth Yeshua in
Philadelphia. Joel's daughter, Sharon Chernoff Wilbur, is
also a singer and is the wife of Messianic recording artist Paul
Wilbur's son, Joel Wilbur
Steve McConnell, a Jewish Believer, has been a worship leader
for over a decade and has played for audiences across the United
States and in Israel. Steve and Sue's first encounter with
Messianic Judaism was at Congregation Melech Yisrael in
Worcester, MA in 1990. After joining the synagogue, they began
writing songs that became part of Melech’s Shabbat worship. In
1995, another Melech Yisrael couple realized a profit from the
sale of their home and approached Steve and Sue about donating
some money to enable their songs to be recorded. The original
intention was that each of the Melech families would be able to
have a copy, and perhaps it would be shared with the other New
England congregations as well. The result was "We Delight" and
it surprised everyone, especially Steve and Sue! It has now sold
in the tens of thousands of copies and its songs can be heard in
homes and congregations throughout the US, Israel, Canada, Cuba,
South America, Australia, Europe, South Africa, and India. In
1998, Steve and Sue released "HaMoedim -- The Appointed Times",
a collection of songs celebrating the appointed times of the
Lord found in the 23rd chapter of Leviticus. Now their latest
recording, "Sim Shalom", is available. "Sim Shalom" is a
collection of songs that starts and ends with portions of the
prayer by the same name found in the Amidah. Each song in
between is in one way or another connected with the desire for
true shalom.
Steve and Sue then moved to the Hartford, CT
area and attended Shuvah Yisrael Messianic Synagogue in
Simsbury, CT. Steve and Sue collaborate on their songs, often
setting scripture passages and siddur prayers to music.

Ted Pearce grew up in Beaumont, Texas and began writing original
music on his guitar at the age of 13. In the 1980s, he
moved to Dallas and performed with several groups including Side
Effex which released a couple of vinyl records and other
cassette-only releases. He recorded albums with indie
bands Diego & The Switchblades, The Surrogate Vapors and T-Roy.
In 1990, Ted had a radical encounter with God and began writing
worship music with his first messianic album, "Shield of David",
released in the summer of 1991.
He later formed two Christian rock bands and two albums "Nomadic
Farmers" in 1997 and "Big Methuselah" in 1999.
Ted, who is not Jewish, returned to messianic worship music on
the label Galilee of the Nations with "Zealous Over Zion" in
October 2002. His next solo recording, was "Hallelu Et
Adonai", is a collection of simple acoustic songs released in
July 2005. A new version of "Hallelu Et Adonai" with
additional songs was released in 2008.
Ted and Joel Chernoff collaborated to revive the Messianic
pioneer group, LAMB, in 2005. He has also releases a DVD
holocaust memorial film called "The Forgotten People" in a new
compilation from Galilee of the Nations entitles "For Zions Sake
I WIll Not Be Silent".

Jonathan Settel is a Jewish Believer and a man after the heart
of God. He ministers extensively worldwide, bringing us back to
our Jewish roots through Messianic expressions of worship and
teachings. He is married and a father to six children.
Jonathan was born in Berlin, Germany and grew up in a
traditional Jewish family in Washington, D.C. He studied music
at the Inter American University of San German, Puerto Rico. For
twenty years he was a vocalist in nightclubs, hotels, bars and
cruise ships in the United States. In February of 1984, while
employed by Walt Disney World, Jonathan had an "Encounter with
Eternity". He became a Believer in Yeshua Ha Mashiach. (Jesus,
the Messiah).
He was discipled for six years in a small church in Florida and
was one of their worship leaders for their Erev Shabbat Service.
In 1990, Jonathan responded to The Lord's call to make "Aliyah"
(returned to his homeland, Israel), and moved his family to
Jerusalem where he came to love and identify completely with the
Israeli culture--and was fired up to "bring the Word forth from
Zion". After a tremendous growth in Ministry, in June of 1996,
he and his family then returned to the U.S. to fulfill the next
part of God's plan for them.
Jonathan, along with his wife Sharon, their two daughters
Ariella and Aviva and their son Amiel, now reside in Parkland,
FL. After living in Israel for six years, one of their greatest
desires is to lead groups to the Chosen Nation of Israel on an
annual basis; to have people experience the Land through Jewish
Eyes .......... Through Yeshua's Eyes.
Jonathan's travels have taken him to many countries as well as a
variety of Christian and Messianic Congregations. The passion of
this ministry is to see the Body of Messiah unite and in so
doing exposes Anti-Semitism within the Church. Many have wept in
repentance upon altar calls, releasing the Genesis 12:3
blessing. "Our desire is to see all of Israel (the Jewish
people) come to know Messiah as the Body of Believers provokes
them to jealousy." Many have responded to the call for
salvation and letters are received daily reflecting the impact
Jonathan's music has had on people's lives. This music and
ministry materials have gone into places where Jonathan has yet
to go.

Billy Whitman is a Jewish Believer who was born in Miami, Florida where he was raised by
two loving Jewish parents. He received three years of religious
training which ended with his bar-mitzvah. For those not
familiar with what a bar-mitzvah is, it’s a ceremony publicly
recognizing the spiritual and legal maturity of a Jewish boy at
age thirteen. After his bar-mitzvah he says he had no real
desire to continue learning about Judaism and no longer attended
synagogue.
As Billy grew up and went on to college, he found himself
wanting to know more about spiritual things. As a little boy he
had been curious about life, so he was on a journey towards God.
Having already experimented with drugs, he became involved with
self-actualization, meditation, yoga, and different Eastern
philosophies. He even changed my diet thinking he could be
healthier and become more spiritually in tune.
When he came home from college he made his
living as a professional musician. It was during this time that
he had the opportunity to see if the claims Yeshua (Jesus) had
made about being the Messiah of Israel, his personal Savior, had
any validity. Billy had been told before that he needed to trust
Yeshua as his Redeemer from eternal condemnation to eternal
life, but never paid much attention to that fact until this time
in his life.
A friend, sensing his spiritual need,
encouraged him to pray to the God of Israel. He figured, “I’ve
tried about everything so why not give this a try”. So, as
he puts it, with faith smaller than a mustard seed, he prayed,
“God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, If you are real I want to see
it in the T’nach (Hebrew scriptures). If You really became a man
in the person of Yeshua, then show me in my Jewish Bible".
After he prayed that prayer he felt no
change, saying the he even felt stupid. But he had a strong
desire to check out the Bible. So not too long after that time
he found the Bible he had in my bottom drawer, which had been
given to me by the sisterhood at his temple ten years prior, and
dusting it off, he proceeded to read from cover to cover looking
for Messiah.
Billy discovered that there were promises of
a land and a heritage for the Jewish people and Messianic
prophecies which led like a road map to only one person in
history, Jesus of Nazareth. He also learned as his desire to
read increased, that many rabbis living before and after Yeshua
became an issue believed in a Mashiach (Messiah) who would be a
person. Some even saw two Messiahs; one who would suffer called
the son of Joseph, and one who would reign as a King, the son of
David.
After nine months of intense study, which included the
“suffering servant” in the fifty-third chapter of Isaiah and
reading how the Hebrew prophecies were fulfilled in the Brit
Chadashah (New Covenant), Billy placed his hope and trust in
Yeshua as his personal Savior and Lord.
"As I think back to the Israelites long ago
in Egypt, and how they were freed by God from the bondage of
slavery, I too have been set free from the bondage of sin and
death. I enjoy the assurance of knowing that my name is
inscribed in the Lamb’s Book of Everlasting Life through faith
in Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus, God’s anointed One."
