The Jew & the Stranger

Numbers 15:15-16
One ordinance will be both for you of the congregation (Israel) and also for the stranger that lives among you, an ordinance forever in your generations: as you are, so will the stranger be before the LORD. One Torah and one manner will be for you and for the stranger who lives with you.

Torah Portions

The Jewish tradition is to read the Torah (the first 5 books of the Original Covenant) through in a year's time. Jews from around the world read the same Parashiot (or portion) each week. In addition to the Torah portion, they also read a Parashiot from the Haftarah. The Haftarah is a short selection from the Prophets read every Sabbath. Those in the Messianic community add to that a Parashiot from either the Gospels or elsewhere in the Brit Hadisha (the New Covenant) - that varies from group to group.

The typical way to study the scriptures is through midrash, or "spirited" discussion. One of our favorite things at Beit Yeshua is the midrash of the scriptures. No matter how many times we've read or re-read the scriptures, the Lord always brings new insight through the inspiration of the Ruach Ha'Kodesh (Holy Spirit).
