Isaiah 62
6I
have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which
shall never hold their peace day nor night:
ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence,
7And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make
Jerusalem a praise in the earth. |

Proclamation Over a City |
|
On January 1, 2010, nine men and women
associated with Beit Yeshua gathered for the 2nd annual shofar
sounding and proclamation over the city of Lincolnton.
Shofarot were sounded at the Lincolnton Courthouse, the local
high school, as well as at several area churches represented by
the group, including Covenant Bible Church and Freedom Church. The morning also consisted of prayer requesting
Yahweh to more freely and fully move during 2010 and pour our
more of His Ruach Ha'Kodesh (Holy Spirit). |

Church |
|
Because of our connection with Highway to Zion, we've connected
with Steele Creek Church's Messianic Pastor, Warren Marcus, and
their monthly One-New-Man meetings. Warmly received, we
had no trouble jumping in during their praise and worship to
share our love for Israeli Folk Dance with those in attendance.
Warren also invited the Beit Yeshua's "shofar blowers" to open
the Steel Creek Church service when he ministered there on a
Saturday evening in January. The evening concluded with
some wonderful fellowship. |

Our 2010 Israeli Folk Dance classes started
on Tuesday, January 5th. There was a good mixture of men
and women from a variety of ages. We had several beginner
dancers, so we started easy and increased the difficulty as the
evening progressed. |

Coats
to Vision For Israel |
|
Doug was
approached by a member of Covenant Bible Church who said that he had
600 coats that
he'd be willing to donate to the needy in Israel. The coats were adult-sized and were manufactured in the USA by a
textile company that had gone out of business. When Vision
For Israel founders Barry & Batya Segal were in Charlotte in
December 2009 for the VFI Hanukkah Celebration, Doug talked with Batya
and confirmed their desire for
the coats. |
|
Steve & Timmy brought the VFI
truck from Charlotte to Lincolnton, NC, where Paul and Chuck helped load the coats. They
were then taken to the Vision For Israel warehouse in Charlotte,
where they'll be re-packaged and sent to Israel. |

Purim Celebration |

Esther &
The Wonderful Kingdom of AZ |
|
|
Beit Yeshua celebrated the Biblical
Festival of Purim on Friday, February 26, 2010
in the Family Life Center of Covenant Bible Church
at 2168 Gastonia Hwy, Lincolnton, NC 28092 |
|
The evening consisted of Praise, Worship and Israeli Folk Dance,
a "Wizard
of Oz" Purim Shpiel (Play),
prayer for Israel, food and fellowship. |
|
Part of our festivities in celebrating Purim
each year is to tell the story of Esther and how God used her to
bring deliverance for her people, the Jews, from the evil Haman.
For the past eight years we've chosen to tell the story through a
comedic Purim play or Shpiel. This year's play was a
"Wizard of Oz" parody entitled "Esther and the Wonderful Kingdom
of AZ". Rather than memorizing parts, Curtis leads those
in attendance in an impromptu telling of the story. Cast
for the play are frequently chosen spontaneously and without any
preparation, costumed, handed a script, and directed through the
telling of the story. |
|
The heroine in our story is a lovely Jewish
orphan girl by the name of Dorothy-Esther Hadassah Mordechai. |

The Vision For Israel Conference never
disappoints! It was awesome this year and truly gave us a view
into the hear of God concerning Israel. It also allowed us the
opportunity to make new friends and visit with old ones. Each
year, the feeling of family, and connection to Vision For Israel
becomes stronger. I wish you all could have been there. It
gives us a broader view of what God is doing. |

Frank & Carol LaPorta visited Beit Yeshua on
Friday, May 7th, 2010 and ministered in the Erev Shabbat
meeting. |
|
The LaPortas serve in Israel through Carmel Assembly
through "The Father's Heart" Ministry there. Carmel Assembly
reaches out to the community in many ways and has a Drug &
Alcohol Rehab Center. One of the LaPorta's areas of
ministry is "Loaves & Fishes" where they take large hoagie-style
sandwiches to the needy. Another area of
ministry is called, "Abba's Arms", where they go and minister to
mentally handicapped children in Haifa.
The third area of ministry for the LaPortas is working at the
Ebenezer Home - a home for elderly Believers - some who are
Holocaust Survivors. |

Love For His People |
|
Our good friend Steve Martin announced in
December 2009 that he would be leaving Vision For Israel on July
1, 2010 - completing 5 years with the Israeli Based humanitarian
aid organization founded by Barry & Batya Segal, to lead
"Love For His People Ministries, a new ministry based in
Charlotte, NC. Beit Yeshua is excited to be working with
this wonderful new ministry. |
|
Steve in Israel in 2009 |
|
|
"Love For His People Ministries" (in Hebrew "Ahava
le Amo") was established on November 23, 2009 to connect people
who love Israel - so that together they can more effectively
bless the people of Israel. A primary focus of this "arm
in arm" ministry will be to encourage, support and edify
Messianic Believers in the Promised Land of Eretz Israel -
including a special outreach to Messianic Ethiopian Jews. |

Erev Shabbat & Midrash |
|
|
Beit Yeshua continued it Erev Shabbat meeting through the long
"hot" North Carolina summer. On Friday, July 23, 2010,
Beit Yeshua met at Chuck & Janice's home for Erev
Shabbat, Praise & Worship, Prayer, a Midrashic-style Bible
study, and Oneg. Doug leads our Midrash,
serving as fascinator of the group discussion for the weekly
portions. It's definitely one of our favorite parts of our
Erev Shabbat meetings. There were 37 in attendance at this
particular home meeting - a large crowd for a home group
meeting. |

the land
*the Ten Mitzvot/Commandments as stated by Moses
*the Sh'ma which proclaims the oneness of God
*the duty to love God, study His torah and teach it to the
children
*The mitzvot of the tefillin and mezuzah
*Moses' prophetic warning of the exile and the eventual
redemption of Israel |

Acts 3:19-21
Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped

restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of
His holy prophets from ancient time. |

Yom
Teruah / Rosh Hashanah / the Feast of Trumpets |
|
Beit Yeshua gathered on Friday, September
10th, to celebrate the Biblical Festival of Yom Teruah (the Day
of the Awakening Blast), which is also called Rosh Hashanah.
The decision was made to move the 2010 Feast of Trumpets
celebration back to Doug & Lynda's home. There was around
35 in attendance. |
|
Since Yom Teruah is the Feast of Trumpets, sounding shofarot is
a big part of the celebration
and the only specific Biblical command for the festival |

Many chose to dress in white for the festival celebration
symbolically showing holiness and wedding garments of white |

Sukkot /
the Feast of Booths (Tabernacles) |
|
Beit Yeshua gathered on Friday, September 24,
2010, to celebrate the Biblical festival of Sukkot - or the
Feast of Tabernacles. This was only our second year to
move our festival celebration from the small home-group setting
to the larger Family Life Center at Covenant Bible Church.
As with all the festivals that Beit Yeshua continues to present,
the crowd continues to grow, and blessings to increase.
The Lord's presence was awesome. It was wonderful to reconnect
with old friends and to make some new ones, too, as we
worshipped the Lord together and anticipated the 2nd coming of
Messiah Yeshua. |
|
The constructed and decorated sukkah for the festival |
|
|
Sukkot is considered to be the most joyful of
all the Biblical festivals. We're commanded in scripture
to "rejoice". Beit Yeshua's Sukkot Celebration consisted
of shofar sounding, lots of dancing, teaching, food and great
fellowship - as we rejoiced before the Lord. |
|
Shofarot are sounded to start the meeting |

|
Everyone was invited to sing and dance "Hine Ma Tov" ("Behold
How Good") |

|
Carolyn & I had the privilege to meet some
nice folks from the mountains of North Carolina as they've
traveled to Lincolnton for our last two Israeli Folk Dance
classes. They informed us that they would be observing the
festival of Sukkot from October 22 - 31 in Bostic, NC, and invited us to come by.
This Jewish-Roots group of Believers come from Marion, Nebo, Bostic, Boone and Connelly Springs, NC. Carolyn & I went
up on Saturday, October 23rd, and spent several hours
fellowshipping, dancing and getting to know these new friends.
It was the perfect weekend to be in the mountains as the Autumn
colors of the trees show their vibrant beauty. Yahweh is a
good God! |
|
The theme of the festival is "Preparing the
Camp of the Righteous". They'll have morning classes
starting at 10:00 am and will be centered around wilderness
skills, foraging & wild edibles, cooking over a campfire, basic
flour making (includes wild grains), acorn bread, survival kits,
water filtration & purification, salve making and herbal
medicines - as well as classes on shofar blowing, tzitzit tying,
challah bread making and more. Around 5:00 pm each day,
they'll begin the Torah classes that will include, "Tithing -
YHVH's Perfect Plan for Provision", "The Physics Behind
End-Times Prophecies", "Misplaced Allegiance" and more.
Quiet time (out of courtesy to the neighbors) begins at 10:00
pm. All meals are eaten on site and a great time will be
had by all. There's a time of evening dance and lulav in
the driveway. |
|
It was a great opportunity to spend additional time with new
friends Philip, Cindy, Dylan, Azalea, Harold, Alice and Nancy. |

Marty Goetz Concert |
|
Rabbi Yossi and Beit Shofarot invited
Beit Yeshua to join them in hosting Messianic singer Marty Goetz
in concert at Beit Shofarot in China Grove (Landis), NC, on
Saturday, November 6, 2010. As always, Marty delighted
those in attendance with his singing, wit, personal stories and
devotion to the Lord. The Lord's presence was truly there
as Marty sang, shofarot sounded, Israeli flags waved, prayers
prayed and dancers danced. What a blessing as at folks
from a dozen or more congregations, groups and ministries came
out to be involved. |

Hanukkah With Beit Yeshua & Beit Shofarot |
|
Beit Yeshua & Beit Shofarot gathered corporately on Saturday,
December 4, 2010, at First Reformed Church in Landis, NC, to celebrate the Biblical
festival of Hanukkah. The evening started as Rabbi Yossi
lit the Hanukkah menorah and proceeded to a time to praise,
worship & dance. An impromptu/spontaneous Hanukkah play
gave folks from Beit Yeshua, Beit Shofarot & First Reformed
Church an opportunity to learn the story of Hanukkah and how God
brought deliverance to the Jewish people - culminating in the
cleansing & rededicating of the Temple. |
