Rosh Hashanah / Yom Teruah
The Feast of Trumpets

Rosh Hashanah is a two-day festival occurring in the Autumn (September or October) of each year, on Tishri 1 & 2.  Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish "Civil" New Year and occurs on September 30 and October 1, 2008, and is celebrated with the sounding of the Shofar (Ram's horn).  Even though it is a two-day festival, Rosh Hashanah is considered one long day.

Themes of Rosh Hashanah include (1) The Catching away of the Bride/the Rapture, (2) The Resurrection of the dead, (3) The Coronation of the King, Messiah Yeshua, (4) The Marriage of Messiah and His Bride, and (5) The  Birthday of the World (Jews believe that God created the world on Tishri 1.)

Rabbis teach that God Judges the world and your name is written (inscribed) in one of the books that God Himself keeps.

Where: Family Life Center of Covenant Bible Church, Lincolnton, NC

Yom Kippur
Day of Atonement

Yom Kippur, or Day of Atonement, occurs on Tishri 10 and is the most solemn holiday of the year, occurring in the Autumn of the year in September or October.  This year Yom Kippur falls on Thursday, October 9, 2008.

The only prohibitions for Yom Kippur is that you don’t eat or drink.  It is a day of fasting.  Only on Yom Kippur would the High Priest enter into the Holy of Holies to plead for the people.  On Yom Kippur, God’s judgment is sealed. The entire world is judged this night for the upcoming year.

When: Friday, October 10, 2008
Where: Family Life Center of Covenant Bible Church, Lincolnton, NC
Time:  7:00 until

Address: 2168 Gastonia Hwy.
Lincolnton, NC  28092

Since this meeting is the day after Yom Kippur, we will be having a time of food and fellowship afterwards.

Sukkot
The Feast of Tabernacles

Sukkot (pronounced “sue-coat”) is a Hebrew word that means “booths” and refers to the temporary dwelling the Jews lived in on their forty year journey from Egypt to the promised land. The first day of the 7-day festival is the 15th of Tishrei, occurring in September or October of the year.  This year the dates of Sukkot are October 14 - 20, 2008.

The Bible commands us to “dwell” in the sukka for seven days. Dwelling implies eating, sleeping (if weather permits) and study.  We customarily gather at the home of Doug & Lynda Williams to build a group sukka, although all are encouraged to build their own sukka at their home also.

When: Friday, October 17, 2008
Where: TO BE DETERMINED
Time:  7:00 until

Address: 2168 Gastonia Hwy.
Lincolnton, NC  28092
