Psalm 122:6
Pray for the peace of
Jerusalem: may they prosper who love you.
|
|
Isaiah 40:1-5
“Comfort, O comfort My people,” says your God. “Speak
kindly to Jerusalem; And call out to her, that her warfare has
ended, that her iniquity has been removed, that she has received
of the LORD’S hand double for all her sins.” A voice is
calling, “Clear the way for the LORD in the wilderness; make
smooth in the desert a highway for our God. “Let every
valley be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low;
and let the rough ground become a plain, and the rugged terrain
a broad valley; Then the glory of the LORD will be
revealed, and all flesh will see it together; for the mouth of
the LORD has spoken.” |

The Story Behind the Song "ASHREINU" |
|
In the fall
of 1944, in the Auschwitz concentration camp, a group of 50
Hungarian Jewish boys under the age of 18 had been selected for
the gas chambers. They had been told they were to take showers,
but this was later in concentration camp history, and the boys
knew the truth.
Inside the
bathhouse, one boy shouted out, “Brothers! Today is the day of
Simchat Torah! Before we die, let us celebrate Simchat Torah one
last time! We don’t have a Torah Scroll to dance with, so let
us all dance with God Himself—Who is surely here among us—before
we return our souls to Him.”
50 young voices raised in song, and 50 pairs of feet stamped in
joy before the L-rd:
Ashreinu mah tov chelkeinu u’ma nayim goraleinu u’mah yafah
yerushateinu (How fortunate we are and how wonderful is our
portion and how beautiful is our heritage.)
The commandant came and was infuriated. One boy told him,
“leaving a world where Nazi beasts reign is a cause for
celebration.” To teach them a lesson, the commandant had
them all pulled out and put in a holding block overnight,
telling them he planned to torture them the next day.
The next morning a high-ranking Nazi officer arrived, needing to
conscript a large number of workers. He saw the group of boys
and ordered them along with several hundred other inmates, to be
transferred to his work camp. Survivors of Auschwitz report
that all 50 boys survived the war. |

Area Leadership Meeting |
|
For the past several years, Beit Yeshua (with Curtis Loftin),
Beit Shofarot (with Rabbi Yossi Wentz), Highway to Zion (with
Cathy Hargett) and Love For His People (with Steve Martin) have
attempted to support one another and work together.
Leaders from each of those groups meet quarterly at Panera Bread
in Mooresville to share information about upcoming events and to
schedule joint activities. Beit Yeshua and Beit Shofarot
have joined together for the Marty Goetz Concert (2010),
Hanukkah (2010) and Purim (2011). Beit Yeshua, Beit
Shofarot and Love For His People have joined with Highway to
Zion for their quarterly assemblies. Highway to Zion and
Love For His People were on hand to support Beit Shofarot for
the Walk of Remembrance. All four groups came together
recently for Beit Yeshua's annual Evening Honoring Israel. |

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for

If one falls down, his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.

Shavuot / The Feast
of Pentecost |
|
Beit Yeshua celebrated the Biblical Festival of Shavuot - also
called the Feast of Pentecost - on Friday, June 3, 2011, in the
Family Life Center of Covenant Bible Church in Lincolnton, NC.
Shavuot is a Hebrew word that means "weeks" and refers to the 7
weeks (50 days) between the Feast of Firstfruits (at
Pesach/Passover) and the Feast of Shavuot. |
|
|
At Shavuot we remember the
giving of the Torah in the Tanach (Original Covenant)
and the giving of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) in the Brit
Hadasha (New Covenant) |
 |
Shavuot was celebrated
as the firstfruits of the wheat harvest were offered to Adonai |

From Cathy: |
Highway to Zion's
dance group
really started to come together during our Song of Songs
Classes. We've already given our dance ministry in several
venues and I look forward to what He is doing. I know He is
raising up this worship dance group and the leadership and
committed dancers for it.
All of you are invited to be part of the HTZ worship dance
outreach with us the first Shabbat of each month at the One New
Man Service (pastor Warren Marcus) at Steele Creek Church (in
Charlotte, NC) from 1-3p.m. This is my home church and we are
very welcome and appreciated at the One New Man Service. It's a
great place to give in worship dance. I send reminders each
month about the service, so please pray and see how the Lord
leads you in this. You are obviously called to dance and there
are not that many places to give this gift! |
