Psalm 122:6  Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: may they prosper who love you.

The Eastern Gate on Jerusalem's Old City Wall

Psalm 132:13-18

For Adonai has chosen Tziyon, He has wanted it as his home.  "This is my resting-place forever, I will live here because I so much want to.  I will bless it with plenty of meat, I will give its poor their fill of food.  Its cohanim (priests) I will clothe with salvation, and its faithful will shout for joy.  I will make a king sprout there from David's line and prepare a lamp for my Anointed One.  His enemies I will clothe with shame, but on Him there will be a shining crown."

Deuteronomy 16:11

And thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to place his name there.

A New Direction in 2017

Paul Miles passed away 18 Jan 2017 quite unexpectedly. With Paul's death, and that of Doug Williams on 15 Aug 2016, Beit Yeshua found itself looking for the Lord's direction as we moved forward. Chuck Anthony stepped forward and took the role of co-leader along side Curtis Loftin. Curtis, Chuck and Duke Melnyk now serve as the Executive Board for Beit Yeshua.

Paul and Susan Miles

Doug and Lynda Williams

Doug had been leading the Midrash/Bible Study at our Erev Shabbat meetings since 2005 along with Curtis Loftin. In 2007 Doug started leading the Midrash at all of our meetings while Curtis planned and directed all the Festival meetings, taught Israeli Folk Dance, maintained the website, handled email and facilitated all of Beit Yeshua's meetings. When Doug passed away in August 2016, Paul became our primary Midrash leader while Curtis handled the other items. With Paul's death in January 2017, it was time to seek the Lord again as to how He wanted us to move forward.

In February 2017, the decision was made that Curtis Loftin and Chuck Anthony would co-lead the Pesach Seder in April; Chuck Anthony, Alex Childers, Iline Morrison and Jeff Boyles would handle the Midrash part of the Erev Shabbat meetings - with Iline also leading the Midrash, or dramatic part, of Purim and Hanukkah; Chuck would handle Yom Kippur; Alex would handle Yom Teruah; and Jeff would handle Shavuot. Ze'ev Nevo accepted the invitation to be our guest speaker at Beit Yeshua's annual An Evening Honoring Israel in August while Warren Marcus agreed to be our speaker at the annual Sukkot service in October. Curtis would continue to be the primary facilitator at Beit Yeshua, handle the yearly meeting schedule and calendar, maintain the Beit Yeshua website and email, plan praise & worship for all meetings, and be the primary contact for guest speakers.

Alex Childers lead the Midrash on 17 February 2017

Chuck leads Prayer Time
as we pray for individual needs, the US, our President,
Israel, the Jewish People, the Ministries in Israel that we support, and much more

Chuck Anthony leads the Midrash on 03 March 2017

Duke & Myrl Peeler were asked, and agreed, to handle Beit Yeshua's banking and financial connection to the Israeli ministries supported by Beit Yeshua. Those ministries as of February 2017 were (1) Jim & Linda McKenzie with CHRISTIAN FRIENDS OF ISRAEL, (2) ISRAEL MEDIA MINISTRIES in SC with Ze'ev Nevo, (3) CHRISTIAN FRIENDS OF ISRAEL & David's Shield - to bless and support Israeli soldiers, (4) MAKOR Ha'TIKVAH - the only Messianic School in Jerusalem, (5) DUGIT OUTREACH in Tel Aviv with and Avi Mitzrachi, (6) VISION FOR ISRAEL with Barry & Batya Segal, and (7) HEART OF GOD MINISTRIES in Tiberias with Richard & Carolyn Hyde.

With the Lord's help and direction, Beit Yeshua will continue to move forward in service to Him.

PURIM - The Feast of Lots/The Feast of Esther
"Esther Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs - Shushan Style"

Beit Yeshua gathered on Friday, March 17, 2017, to observe and celebrate the Biblical festival of Purim. Purim comes from the Book of Esther and tells the story of how God used a simple Jewish Girl to become the queen of all Persia-Media and protect her people the Jews from annihilation from the evil Haman.

Purim represents "the hidden". God is not mentioned in the Book of Esther and appears to be hidden, yet He is obviously in the background working on behalf of His people the Jews. Esther, also, appears to be hidden - hiding from all the fact that she was Jewish. It is in this spirit that we wear costumes at Purim - to recall that even when it’s not so obvious, God is always there.

For many years, Curtis Loftin had written and directed the annual Purim Spiel/Play at Beit Yeshua, but for 2017, Curtis asked Iline Morrison if she would consider taking that role. Iline agreed and everyone was tremendously blessed with her original play, "Esther Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs - Shusham Style". Iline's humor and good natured fun came through and a good time was had by all.

"Esther Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs - Shushan Style"

Iline tells the story of the background for our play

Narrator:

Once a long time ago in the Great Kingdom of Shushan was a wonderful King. King Prince Charming Achashverosh and a queen named Vashti. Now Queen Vashti thought she was the best thing in the great land. She looks at herself, had her makeup done every day. She played; she dawdled and she took great naps. The King Prince Charming Achashverosh was such a grand king that he decided to have a great banquet. He invited all near and far. The crowd clamored to view the beautiful Queen Vashti.

Every Purim story has to have some great music

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, Off to Shushan we go,
To See the King, Haman, too
And hear How Esther saved the Jews,
Hi Ho, Hi Ho, Off to Shushan we go.

King Prince-Charming Achashverosh and Queen Vashti are introduced

Every good story always has a villain. In the Purim story, its Haman. In our story its Haman - whose last name happens to be "Mirror-Mirror-On-The-Wall".

We're introduced to Haman Mirror-Mirror-On-The Wall and Mrs. Haman

Vashti: "Haman Mirror-Mirror-On-The-Wall, Who is the most amazing queen in the land?"
Haman Mirror-Mirror-On-The-Wall:
"Why, Queen Vashti, you are the the most amazing queen in the land. Come to the Banquet and let the king show you off."

Well, You know what happened next. She refused to come and she was banished from Shushan - never to return.

King Prince-Charming Achashverosh: "Messenger-Thing-One and  Messenger-Thing-Two, go search near and far.
Bring me the hot, young ladies of the land. Bring them to Shushan Palace that I may pick whoch one will be my bride."

Narrator: "Meanwhile in the forest, in a glade, was a small cottage filled with many special people. Esther Snow White, who was beautiful and kind hearted. Huntsman Mordecai, who was the cousin of Esther Snow White, a great mentor and studier of Torah. And those other 'special ones' of the cottage - Bashful, Dopey, Sleepy, Doc, Grumpy, Happy and Sneezy."

(Left to Right)
Grumpy
(Allie Morrison), Doc (Rita Richards, Dopey (Andi Lovelace), Sleepy (Susan Miles), Bashful (Janice Anthony),
Happy (Bianca Pittman) & Sneezy (Myrl Peeler) with Esther Snow White (Beverly Hall) and Huntsman Mordechai (Doug Morrison)

King Prince-Charming Achashverosh looks for a new Queen

Sleepy: "I'm not Sleepy. I have insomnia. That is a medical condition that cannot be used to keep me from the offered position."
Dopey: "No, no! My name isn't Dopey. It's Bumpy. See, I have a little problem with my eye sight. I tend to bump into things. This is not a disability. You can't use this to keep me from the crown."
Bashful: I am not Bashful. Boy, You need to keep up with political correctness. I am Dashful. Unlike Bumpy here, I dash about. You can see at a glance how I dash, so I am the one fit to be Queen."
Sneezy: "I am not Sneezy. I just have a few allerg ... allerg ... [ACHOO!] ... allergies."

Sleepy                     -                     Dopey                     -                     Bashful                     -                      Sneezy

Happy: "I am just as it sounds. I am happy, happy, happy. It is I alone who can make all the drone watch over everyone and make sure they keep me happy."
Doc: "Please keep up with the times. With the bunch I live with, it is easy to see I am not a 'Doc'. I am a 'Counselor'. I would be a great asset to King Prince-Charming Achashverosh. I could counsel and help him find his inner
         childhood self."
Grumpy: "It's Grumpy. There is just too much political correctness here today. You are what you are. You can't change that. If I am chosen Queen, which at looking at this bunch I should be, I would explain everything to the
King that is wrong with Shushan."

Happy                     -                     Doc                     -                     Grumpy

Esther Snow White: "I am Esther Snow White. I am just your servant. Servant to the King. Servant to the Lord."

Esther Snow White

King Prince-Charming Achashverosh chooses Esther Snow White as his new queen

As our story continues, Haman Mirror-Mirror-On-The-Wall gets this great ideal about having all the Jews in Shushan killed.

Huntsman Mordechai: "A plan was put in place by Haman Mirror-Mirror-On-The-Wall. They plan to kill us all. They cast the pur and now we are for sure to be wiped out."
Queen Esther Snow White: "What shall I do? I haven't seen the king and it is death to go before him."
Huntsman Mordechai: "If you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish."

Haman Mirror-Mirror-On-The-Wall: "There is a people among us thar are not from us. They are bringing down our image. I mean your image."
Huntsman Mordechai:
"And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?"

Then King Prince-Charming Achashverosh decides to honor Huntsman Mordechai for saving his life.
Oy Veh!!! Is Haman in trouble now!

Esther Snow White knows she has to do something to save her people the Jews - so she goes to the King.

King Prince-Charming Achashverosh: "Queen Esther Snow White ... You look great. But why are you here?
Esther Snow White: "I have come to ask you and Haman Mirror-Mirror-On-The-Wall to a banquet to be held tomorrow night."

King Prince-Charming Achashverosh and Haman Mirror-Mirror-On-The-Wall tell Esther Snow White that they will come to her banquet

Haman Mirror-Mirror-On-The-Wall told Mrs. Haman that he alone was invited to attend a banquet with the King and Esther
and he decided to take her a "special" treat - an "apple"

Mrs. Haman Mirror-Mirror-On-The-Wall: " ... bring something unexpected to the banquet. An apple. Maybe they will choke on it!"
Haman Mirror-Mirror-On-The-Wall: "My dearest darling, that only happens in fairy tales."

Well, Queen Esther Snow White gave the banquet for King Prince-Charming Achashverosh and Haman Mirror-Mirror-On-The-Wall.

Haman gave Queen Esther Snow White the apple and just like Mrs. Haman predicted, she choked on it!

Fortunately for all concerned, Messenger Thing Two was a paramedic and was able to revive her.

In the end, Haman Mirror-Mirror-On-The-Wall got just what he deserved.

The King elevated Mordechai to a prominent position and the Jews were able to defend themselves.
Now that's a happy ending!

Zechariah 12:2-3,10

2“Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah. 3“It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.

10“I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.
